Creative Producers Development Programme

A creative producer makes works happen - commissioning, managing, overseeing and realising projects and ideas (this could be a film, play, television programme or digital story etc). The role stretches from ensuring the vision and approach of a project to networking talent to making sure that project is delivered within budget.

In this film, Clare Reddington, director of iShed and the Pervasive Media Studio, and some of the creative producers from the summer school discuss the aims of the development programme, the role of a creative producer, and the outcomes of the summer school.

The Creative Producers Development Programme took place from 12 March – 24 June 2011 and brought together a group of UK based creative producers of different disciplines who work with cutting-edge digital projects. The Development Programme was created to explore new opportunities, view work, spot emerging digital trends and create a supportive network for creative producers. The programme included a trip to SXSW 2011, a Annual music, film, and interactive conference and festival held in Austin, Texas, and a summer school at the Pervasive Media Studio. The summer school was an intensive five day lab which combined personal and project development, and covered different aspects of creative technology production.

The Creative Producers Development Programme was produced by iShed and the Digital Cultures Research Centre and supported by Arts Council England.
