The Extended Theatre Experience was funded by The Technology Strategy Board as an exploration of how technology can extend and ultimately enhance a live performance experience, like theatre or a music concert. 

Watershed, Bristol Old Vic and Hewlett-Packard Labs worked together to create a specially-commissioned, short piece of theatre that used new video and audio capture technologies in every element of the production. Over a run in April at the Bristol Old Vic, the team tested the capacity of this technology to capture the experience of attending a live performance. The team then explored different ways of delivering this digital experience to a viewer or end user, either inside and outside the auditorium.   

The Extended Theatre Experience was awarded a Media Innovation Award 2009 in the Live Category.
