heard from TV screenwriter (and BFI Film Academy alumni) Zia Holloway as she talked to Yero Timi-Biu, award-winning short film and TV writer who discussed how to find your voice and bring your words We don&#8217;t always hear from screenwriters and how they work but we all know how crucial good writing is to bring a project to life. In this Lab event, we got into what writing for the screen is actually like, how to find your way into it and beating that dreaded creative block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joining us to get into all this and more was Zia Holloway, who has written for a range of formats including animation, live action and the stage. Zia talked to Yero Time-Biu who has written for both the big and small screen, with her decade of experience seeing her work on projects including award-winning short films and TV projects with networks including the BBC and Channel 4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Yero also discussed her work as a screenwriter in a recent article for us. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.watershed.co.uk\/film-academy\/resources\/directing\/demystifying-the-role-of-a-screenwriter\/\">Give it a read here!<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-green-background-color has-green-color is-style-default\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About Yero Timi-Biu:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yero Timi-Biu is a British-Nigerian writer-director for TV and film with projects for BBC, Channel 4, BFI and Sky. Yero is also a story editor for audio and worked on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audible.co.uk\/search?searchAuthor=Yero+Timi-Biu\">\u2018The Bias Diagnosis\u2019<\/a>, an original Audible commission. Her award-winning short films <a href=\"https:\/\/network.bfi.org.uk\/funded-by-network\/signs\">\u2018Signs\u2019<\/a> and \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/305574518\">Beneath the Surface\u2019<\/a> have played at international festivals such as Encounters, Aesthetica, BFI Future Film Festival and New York\u2019s Animation Block Party.&nbsp; Her most recent film &#8216;0.5%&#8217; was commissioned by BBC Arts and will be released on iPlayer.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>With over a decade of experience, Yero\u2019s first job was at the BBC during her A-Levels. Now, Yero has original shows in development with various indies, and was one of Edinburgh TV Festival&#8217;s prestigious &#8216;Ones to Watch&#8217; candidates for 2020.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yero\u2019s work focuses on the stories of underrepresented women, especially exploring the effects of isolation and loneliness in society through comedy and drama.
