Andrey Zvyagintsev’s latest film Loveless benefited from a national Q&A tour with the director resulting in the strongest opening weekend for one of his films. It's a tough but rewarding film. I don’t think I’ve had so many conversations with audience members about a films impact. Even in this crowded season I will keep it running for a 2nd week with hopefully a 3rd if possible.
Phantom Thread has continued its strong box-office performance at Watershed with only a small drop on its opening weekend whilst Three Billboards has maintained steady business. It is however time for those billboards to come down especially with Shape of Water and Lady Bird opening this weekend.
A word for The Nothing Factory, which achieved a respectable 60+ audience over 3 screenings, not bad for a 3 hour long Portuguese Brechtian musical/drama/comedy about labour relations!
