BBC See Hear Weekend 2018

BBC See Hear Weekend 2018

Season

Please note : this season finished in Feb 2018

The BBC and See Hear invite you to celebrate all things related to sign language and the Deaf community in film and television in this packed weekend of screenings and workshops.

There’s a little something for everyone in this year's programme. We'll be going behind the scenes to find out how the recent See Hear on Tour programmes were made; we've got an exciting preview double bill of two new British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust films by Deaf directors Samuel Dore and Ted Evans; and they will be an opportunity to revisit in its entirety the Deaf drama series Switch and meet its director Louis Neethling to learn about how this popular programme came into being.

Extraordinary Teens are at the heart of a groundbreaking documentary about young Deaf children attending the Mary Hare Grammar school; and there's plenty of family fun to be had at one of our (three!) Aardman model making workshops. And that's not all. Why not wind down after the weekend with our special Sunday afternoon surprise feature film screening which will followed by our regular Deaf Conversations About Cinema event in the Café/Bar.

Tickets for all events are FREE and can be booked in advance (Please note that you need to pick up your ticket on the day at least 20 minutes before advertised start times). All screenings are subtitled, and feature sign language. All presentations and Q&A sessions will include live speech to text transcription and a sign language interpreter. All of our cinemas are fitted with induction loop systems and are wheelchair accessible.

In addition to the daytime See Hear events look out also for evening Descriptive Subtitled screenings of The Shape of Water on Sat 24 Feb (18:00) and Sun 25 Feb (17:50) and Lady Bird on Mon 26 Feb at 11:00 (this is a Cinébabies screening for parents and carers of babies 12 months and under), Mon 26 Feb at 18:10 and Wed 28 Feb at 15:20.
