We launched the £30,000 Playable City Award in October to challenge artists from all over the world to bring together creative technologies, art and play to surprise and engage audiences by bringing a sense of wonder into public spaces.
Yesterday we welcomed over 40 filmmakers from Bristol, Nottingham and Sheffield through our doors for the final event of FilmWorks, a networked professional talent development scheme managed by Watershed and co-produced by ShowroomWorkstation in Sheffield and Broadway in Nottingham.
"Watershed was central to my understanding of the history and possibilities of cinema and without it I wouldn't have been inspired to produce the films that I have made." Bristol-born Oscar®-winning film producer Iain Canning, the man behind The King's Speech and Shame
It's 20 days until Christmas but don't be alarmed: we've been mulling wine, roasting turkeys, crafting filo stars and digging out our best Christmas jumpers in preparation for the festive season here at Watershed, where you can eat, drink and be merry with our cracking Christmas menu, sparkly Christmas films, and great value drinks.
The festive season is upon us and I’m writing my lists, I’m counting down the days, I don’t know exactly what will be delivered but I know it will make me skip about a bit. There’s bound to be arguments and anxieties, some people will probably drink too much, but it will be worth it. All we need to do is get Christmas out of the way so that the fun can begin.
