Another chance to catch Sean Baker's visionary take on the wild ups and dangerous downs of life in America's underbelly, The Florida Project was one of our highlights of 2017.

It tells the story of spirited six year year old Moonee (the astonishingly good Brooklynn Prince) and her tag tag group of friends whose summer break is filled with childhood wonder, possibility and a sense of adventure while the adults around them struggle with hard times. Their lives are lived in the shadow of a fantasy world (literally - Disney World is just up the road) while they hustle change for ice cream, host spitting contests, and prank staff (including Willem Dafoe) at the candy-coloured motel they live at. When life takes a downward spiral, Moonee's love for her mother begins to define her future...

A magnificent and madcap film that wonderfully captures the joy of childhood, it also introduces us to one of the most unforgettable characters of the cinematic year - trust us.
