Germana Uchôa

For almost fifteen years I worked as a Marketing executive in large companies in Pernambuco.  I studied Fashion Culture in São Paulo in 2006. And then, in 2007, I founded my company, ESPAÇO GARIMPO, which is a platform for Fashion and Design new talents.

Espaço Garimpo is focusing on creating opportunity for new fashion designers and creative entrepreneurs in Brazil, such as a collaborative network for fashion and design brands, education work focuses on creative economy and business for fashion students, managers and professionals through courses, lectures, workshops, debates, educational and cultural trips, business meetings and pop-up stores.

Since founding Espaço Garimpo in 2007, I have had more than 300 brands participating of the Garimpo´s pop ups and events.

In 2011 I was selected for a coaching and mentoring program called Creative Entrepreneurs in Sao Paulo, Brazil. And in 2012 I was the winner of the YECA Fashion in Brazil.

IT´S NOT OVER YET. LET´S PLAY IN RECIFE?

Mon 27 Jan, 2014

Intense days,  lots to think, to build , to discuss, to debate. Exchange of ideas , experiences and expetises. So were the last days of the first part of the project in Bristol residence. The groups thought , tested , constructed , deconstructed , redesigned ideas. We had very little time for so many ideas , prototypes and brainstorming , but we had to submit something , a scope at least . Teamwork with the British brings a new experience for us , mainly because not experienced our city , our culture , the people , places , issues and opportunities .

Let´s Play?

Tue 14 Jan, 2014

The first week of residence was to known better the others participants and recognize ourselves in the project. I think the challenge is huge. For the brazilian participants, presenting our reality and our city with such different thoughts and experiences. For the british and participants from other places, get the information and feel able to understand the city, its problems and opportunities without being in the city. Some of the activities were inspiring and fun. It was good to know more about what they're doing "playable" around.
