Rethink cities as spaces that can be ludic, engaging and funny. Yeah... it's not an easy task. That's what a bunch of artists, technologists and producers start to do, or, at least are trying to start doing. "Recife: the playable city" is a project that focus on discussing and implementing some new ways of seeing the city of Recife, based on experiences we have in Bristol (UK).
For the Brazilians involved in the project, there's so much to learn and exchange with people from UK, also artists, technologists and producers. For me, this is a chance of getting involved in ideas that can connect people, governments and brands in a new and fresh way, only possible when we think about storytelling, storydoing, engagement and the possibilities that digital technologies give to augment reality itself.
The first sprint was like dive into the spirit of what is playable, with seminars, master classes and a lot of skills exchange. Looking forward for the rest of the first sprint and to start figuring out some (good) ideas that could be developed and implemented back in Recife.
