As an initial introduction into using rules and algorithms to make creative decisions, we have been looking at Cellular Automatons - a grid of 'cells' where the state of a cell (on or off) affects the states of the surrounding cells. They can be used to create patterns and 'life forms' which can move about the grid and alter the patterns.

We have been looking for a way to use a set of rules to create a pattern or image - for instance a wallpaper design. The image here is created by using Stephen Wolfram's Rule 90 for Cellular Automota.
