Cinéphiles is a film discussion group which meets on the first Monday of the month between 20:00-22:00. At each session this friendly group of film enthusiasts share thoughts, passions and criticism around 3 - 4 agreed upon titles which have screened at Watershed over the previous month (don't worry - you don’t have to have see them all!).
The discussion is aided by video interviews and clips on the chosen titles, plus trailers of films coming up in the month ahead. Meetings are lively, informative and enjoyable and new members are always welcome.
Cinéphiles Co-presenter, Brian Clay:
“This month’s selections couldn’t be better or more diverse for the return of Cinephiles after a summer break. Gurinda Chada’s feel-good ‘Blinded by the Light’ is not just for Bruce Springsteen fans and provides many points for discussion whilst ‘Pain and Glory’ has been praised as a great introduction to the work of the famed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, not to mention a prize winning performance from Antonio Banderas. The other two titles are interesting examples of current World Cinema from Germany and France that should spark off some lively debate. Remember, you don’t have to have seen all the titles selected – if you love film, you will be amongst friends!’
