The Bristol premiere of Marie’s Story tells the inspirational true story of Marie Heurtin, a Deaf and blind girl born at the turn of the late nineteenth century, featuring a spellbinding performance from Deaf lead actress Ariana Rivoire.

At the age of 14, with no way to communicate with those around her, Marie is sent to the Larnay Institute in central France, where nuns take care of deaf girls. There, Sister Marguerite (Isabelle Carre) sees in her a unique potential, and helps her express herself again. Blending history and humour, Jean-Pierre Améris’ award-winning drama offers a fascinating and moving tale of friendship and perseverance.

This screening will be subtitled and feature sign language. All of our cinema auditoria are fitted with induction loop systems.
