The Man Who Sold The World, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, The Thin White Duke, The Man Who Fell To Earth… David Bowie’s musical personas had many names and guises, and they were all beloved. The news on a January Monday morning of the death of this greatest of musical icons has hit us hard - so today we celebrate the chameleonic legend by bringing one of his best acting roles to the big screen: Jareth the Goblin King in Jim Henson’s fantasy Labyrinth.

Beloved by many an 80s child (and generations to follow), it sees a young girl (Jennifer Connelly) negotiate the perils of a dangerous fairy-tale maze to reclaim her baby brother from the clutches of Bowie’s Jareth. There’s big hair, tight trousers, loads of puppets, super cool contact juggling… let’s celebrate Bowie’s eternal legacy and dance, magic dance.

"It’s only forever… not long at all"

The screenings on Saturday will include an introduction by game designer Simon Johnson, creator of Bowie HipSync, a fun silent dance tribute to David Bowie. Join us after the film to play - when ready, head to s-j.io/bowie on your mobile phone, plug in your headphones and enjoy. It’s quite possible that there will be no winners, but you could be heroes…
