Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in May 2016

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

Mayfly allows you to record sounds and attach them to the pages of the Journals and Stickers; bringing the physical and digital together. It emerged from the chance discovery of a battered Moroccan guidebook stuffed with tickets. Leafing through those pages, the Mayfly team longed to hear the sounds of that faraway place. This led to the creation of Mayfly - a place where you can store the sounds, scribbles and scraps of life through beautifully crafted products and an easy to use mobile app.

Studio residents Barney Heywood, Lucy Telling and Tim Cole began working together on the early stages of Mayfly in 2013 and established the company in 2015. Barney and Lucy are brother and sister and have been collaborating as artists since 2009 through their company, Stand + Stare. Tim is a history professor at University of Bristol whose academic research covers aspects of memory, landscape and travel.

Mayfly has been funded by the REACT Knowledge Exchange Hub for the Creative Economy.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
