Desert Island Flicks with Paul Mason

Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival 2016

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Sept 2016

Writer, broadcaster and economics expert Paul Mason joins us to share his top film picks.

Paul Mason is this year’s castaway marooned on a desert island with only a limited number of his all-time favourite films. In conversation with Andrew Kelly (Director, Festival of Ideas), Paul will discuss why these films warrant his special attention and show clips from many of them. His longlist is: Reds (1981); Christ Stopped at Eboli (1979); Land and Freedom (1985); One Eyed Jacks (1961); Gilda (1946); Yellow Earth (1984); Song of Summer (1968); His Girl Friday (1940); The New Babylon (1929); To Have and Have Not (1944).
