In 1943 this 20th Century Fox title stood out as a true novelty - one of the few films made by a major studio to feature a predominantly black cast.

Based upon the life and times of Bill ‘Bojangles’ Robinson - a talented dancer who rose to fame after World War One - the film features fantastic performances from Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, Ada Brown, Lena Horne and, most notably, self-taught entertainers the fabulous Nicholas Brothers - who despite racial hurdles became one of the biggest musical acts of their time. Stormy Weather brilliantly showcases their dazzling, show-stopping numbers, routines which surely rank as some of the most impressive choreography ever committed to film. Fred Astaire himself even named the brothers’ ‘staircase’ number the greatest of all musical sequences, and ol’ Fred knew a thing a two about dance numbers.
