Making Tactile Technologies for Kids

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

Studio resident Becca Rose is an artist, designer, and educator. In 2015 she started to explore ways to connect paper pages with sounds and animations on a screen. Since, she has developed an app for creating and sharing children’s stories across digital and physical spaces.

The app was recently awarded Innovate UK’s “art and technology” fund, which has lead Becca to develop work in a new way. She has been working with technologist Mark Wonnacott, producer Sarah Warden, and artists Emma Powell, Amy Rose, and Liv Bargman to take the app in a new direction. This week's Lunchtime Talk will outline Becca’s approach to developing creative educational technologies, as well as sharing the team’s insight into the making process.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk
