Facebook for Sceptics
Lunchtime Talks
Please note: This event took place in July 2018
Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.
Facebook "connects us" on an unprecedented global scale. At the same time it is a means for widespread influence upon - and arguably manipulation of - our personal behaviours, with a consequent impact upon our mental and political health.
In this latest 'For Sceptics' talk, Tim Kindberg is joined by fellow studio resident Marcus Gilroy-Ware. Together they will consider the question: is Facebook redeemable? And is scepticism not only an aid for answering that question, but also a key to reclaiming Facebook's benefits against its dark side?
The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk.
