Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Nov 2018

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

In this Lunchtime Talk software developers Emma Foley and Jamie Cruickshank of FiveAI discuss tech and diversity, and showcase some exciting developments in self-driving car technology.

Self-driving cars are coming and the benefits will be huge. With this new tech just around the corner, it’s vital that the new breed of transport services are available to everyone. People of every gender, race, age, ability and economic background must be able to use and benefit from a safe, accessible shared service.

What can we do to make sure this happens? How can we find, celebrate and amplify the voices that need to be heard? How can we create a service that serves all of society?

FiveAI is a venture-funded, UK company based in London, Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol, Edinburgh and Millbrook. Using the power of autonomy to transform Europe’s cities, for everyone they bring together the best minds in AI, engineering and mobility to deliver a fully autonomous shared transport service.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk.
