An avid film fan develops an unusual relationship with a beautiful princess who steps out of her monochrome movie screen and into his multi-coloured world in this fantastical and charming love story.

It's 1960s Japan, and films are said to be losing their status as ‘the king of entertainment’ to TV. Despite this, aspiring young director Kenji (Kentaro Sakaguchi) dreams of making movies and spends his days at the theatre watching his favourite old black and white film, infatuated with the main character Princess Miyuki (Haruka Ayase). One night, as a storm rages outside, lightning strikes the theatre and the princess miraculously emerges from the film and into Kenji’s world where they embark on an adventure wild with colour.

Funny and heartwarming with some tear-jerking performances, Tonight At The Movies is an unabashed celebration of the emotional power of moving pictures.
