Introducing the Sentiment Honk

Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in May 2019

For this lunchtime talk we are joined by Rachel Smith, who recently joined the studio on a micro residency. Rachel will be demoing her latest project, ‘Sentiment Honk’ and talking about sentiment analysis (programmes which detect the emotional timbre of a piece of text or speech). This is a project which has been developed during a micro residency at the studio and is ready for testing, feedback and discussion.

Come and interact with some playful machines and find out what makes Google think you’re sad.

Rachel is a multidisciplinary installation artist. Her main interests lie in the relationship between humans and machines and her work has a particular focus on the hidden decision making processes found in artificial intelligence. She recently graduated from the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany with an MFA in Media Art.
