Pervasive Media Studio 10th Birthday

Pervasive Media Studio 10th Birthday

Season

Please note : this season finished in Feb 2018

We are celebrating the 10th birthday of our extraordinary space - the Pervasive Media Studio - with for an afternoon of guided tours, playful workshops, games and events (all free!) run by Studio residents.

We can’t believe that it’s been a decade since we opened the doors to the Pervasive Media Studio, our research and development space run in collaboration with Watershed, University of Bristol and UWE Bristol. From talking lamp posts to printed prosthetics, the Pervasive Media Studio supports and nurtures a community inventing amazing ideas and applications for creative technology.

To celebrate this milestone birthday, on Sat 17 Feb we invite you to join us - everything will be free and there will be activities to entice all ages.

From 12:00 until 16:00, informal tours of the Studio will be running every 15 minutes during which you will meet residents and artists, plus we'll have drop-ins and workshops which offer the opportunity to try out some of the projects and ideas currently being developed here. Bedazzle an accessory with lights and sparkly things, make your own Children's Book, learn about meaningful design, unload your emotional baggage, play Korean Lazer Ball with the team behind IGLAB, Balance a Beast, battle a Mekamon robot and more!

Or perhaps you would like to join our Magician-in-residence Stuart Nolan in his attempt to create 1000 Mindreaders or bring the family to help us celebrate the non-binary gender heroes and heroines of TV past and present in Studio Resident Tom Marshman’s Queer Kids TV?

If you have ever wondered what goes on through the doors of the Café and Bar then indulge your curiosity and have a look around this very special part of Watershed.

  • There will be BSL interpreters in the Studio between 14:00 and 16:00 and the 15:00 Studio Tour will feature BSL interpretation

All of the activities are free. 1000 Mindreaders and Queer Kids TV are bookable online (please collect your tickets at least 20 minutes before the start of the event - any tickets not collected by this time will be released) - the tours and drop-in workshops are available on a first come, first served basis. Details and times for confirmed tours, drop-ins and workshops are published here.

The Pervasive Media Studio is a collaboration between Watershed, University of Bristol and UWE Bristol.
