Making data more playful
Have just given a short talk at Apps for Communities,a free event co-hosted by Connecting Bristol team. Apart from I wasn't really talking about apps, I was talking about inspirational, playful entrepreneurial uses of data. Some were projects we commissioned and some were things from around the world that i think are amazing.
Intro was about Watershed, The Pervasive Media Studio and Media Sandbox and the examples I used:
Mobile Pie's Blossom Bristol - Like Farmville for mobile with real climate data.
Chromaroma by Mudlark - Using your Oyster Card and Bike Key, Chromaroma lets you play the city as you travel.
Netherlands Museum vending machine and Tales of Things - attaching digital stories to objects
Nuage Vert, Helsinki - projecting power consumption levels, beautifully, ambiently, meaningfully
Tweeture by Slingshot - digitally enhanced real things used to create conversations
Light Up Bristol - next time round let's use council data
and the sound based games i mentioned in the questions - Aurifi and Papa Sangre
