Week commencing 2nd April

This week has gone eggs-cellently, everyone is eggstremely happy despite being egg-traordinarily busy. That’s right, you guessed it: Easter is upon us and we are all getting in the mood. The promise of chocolate and Easter cheer is all around as we get geared up for Studio’s first ever egg hunt!
What else has been happening this week?

It’s been an important week for the REACT team as Heritage Sandbox had their kick off session where all the REACT finalists met together around the Pervasie Media Studio’s welcoming table. Follow the activities of REACT on their twitter feed. The sandboxers have begun blogging on their project pages.

Tangible FX have been training up the Boxettes; a group of female beat boxers on how to use their iMoov app, a wireless MIDI controller that allows you to control musical effects using the motion of your iPhone. They have been developing their range of products, making it even easier for people to use their real time music control systems and will be submitting the iMoov to the Apple app store for public release at the end of the week.

Mercurial Wrestler
have come home and are now completely based in Bristol’s fair city. There have been some strange sightings of magical things happening around Bristol...weird. You can now register to become witness to Magna Mysteria , which is part of Mayfest’s amazing line up this year.

Adam Place
from nu desine, is off to Japan to set up distributers with the UK trade and investment team.  Their monthly newsletter is about to be released. Follow nu-desine’s adventures on twitter and @alphasphere

DCRC’s Jess has been maintaining the iDocs website and well as building the very exciting song archive project website. Where you can find out more about the artist Yvonne Buchheim and check out her book. Yvonne held an open meeting at the Studio this week to explore the next steps for her project and to consider integrating new technologies into the song archive experience.

Tim Kindberg has reluctantly returned from Nairobi and Accra looking tanned and excited, he is mulling over possibilities for future engagement with Africa and is set to reveal all during his lunch time talk on 11th May, watch this space.

It’s Sam Stockley’s last day this week, he has been working on placement for Leeds University building towards his dissertation by carrying out ethnographic research. He leaves us with his observation of the studio: “the mixture of voices is very interesting at the Pervasive Media Studio, there is a thriving ecosystem from divergent backgrounds, that make the Studio a very unique place compared to other creative/cultural industries” Follow Sam on twitter.
