In a return to one of our favourite lunchtime talk formats, this week we handed the reins over to you, our extended community. People came along to share their projects, interests, challenges and calls to action. You generously responded with support, feedback and inspiration. I have documented below just a snippet of what the community shared and have tried, where possible, to provide links so you can follow up any conversations of interest:

Paul Alistair Collins is an interactive documentary filmmaker and student at UWE. He is currently filming a pack of foxes in central London, and capturing the challenges of urban life and the choices that the foxes make on a daily basis.

Jess Hoare from Bristol & Bath by Design shared some of the research questions they are investigating; why is there so much design activity in the region? And how they can best foster a supportive environment. Jess asked us to help by filling out this survey.

Sam from Wriggle tested out his one-minute elevator pitch on us for feedback. Wriggle offers people the chance to buy local, with daily food and drink offers from independent companies.

Bristol based artist Sara Zaltash talked about one day: Day One Resilience. A project driven by the premise that loads of things are going to happen one day, but this is day one and what should we do? The project will create a video feedback loop of questions and conversations across the city.

Photographer Steve Flanagan is experienced in time lapse and virtual tours. His ambition is to create a space where people can have big experiences in incredible environments through multi-media driven content and virtual environments. He is keen to meet like-minded people with the skills to make this happen.

Studio Resident Tom McDonagh told us a story about Jeremiah Reynolds, who whilst running a small newspaper in Ohio in the 1820s, was convinced that the Earth was hollow and the center was accessible by holes in the North and South Poles. Tom is developing a live performance based on this story that will take the shape of a public lecture incorporating shadow puppetry. Holes will have a work in progress showing in Autumn.

Jenny Duffy from Massive Owl is a part of artist-led collective Interval. Massive Owl is developing an interactive DJ set, using big screen combined with live VJing and audience plants to create moments of human interaction to underscore the live DJ set. They will be having a development day in the Studio soon and are open to new ideas and collaborators

Toby works with phonics and has created an augmented alphabet. He translated the Beatrix Potter books into the phonetic alphabet to help children learning to read.

Jack has recently moved to Bristol and is interested in acoustic music and knitting. He is setting up a skiffle band and is looking for percussionists, as well a looking for a knitting group to join.

Our new Artist in Residence Ashley James Brown introduced himself, and once he starts his residency in July, you will be able to follow his fortnightly residency blogs.

Vince is learning Ruby on Rails, and has mainly been teaching himself with YouTube tutorials. Code School was suggested as a good starting point.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared, listened and offered feedback and support.
