Based on the novel of the same name by the renowned pulp writer Steve Fisher (Dead Reckoning), I Wake Up Screaming tells the story of New York sports promoter Frankie Christopher (Victor Mature) who finds himself on the wrong side of the law after the murder of a fashion model he made famous.

Everything and everyone one is against him – from the corrupt detective (Laird Cregar) trying to put the finger on him, to the entire city of New York. Co-starring the great Carole Landis (Four Jills in a Jeep), a terrifying performance by Laird Cregar (The Lodger), classic noir regular Elisha Cook Jr. (The Maltese Falcon, Phantom Lady) and the then musical legend Betty Grable (How to Marry a Millionaire, Down Argentine Way).

Filled with the many hallmarks of classic film noir as well as plenty of twists and turns, I Wake Up Screaming will keep you guessing until the very end.

Presented in collaboration with Film Noir UK.
