Asian Arts Agency present Jamblu & _RHL

Event

Please note: This event took place in May 2016

Asian Arts Agency present an exciting free night of contemporary Indian electronic music with Jamblu and _RHL in the Café/Bar from 21:30 - 23:45: in three separate sets, Jamblu and _RHL will showcase some of India’s best underground alternative electronica.

Jamblu - Though he acts as guitarist, trumpet player, and keyboardist for Delhi’s PCRC and as vocalist and guitarist for Begum, Kartik is mostly found at home making more music, seemingly at odds with what that kind of workload would seem to present as a demand on one’s time. His solo project Jamblu began in 2014. Two releases in it would appear that his well of creativity is just beginning to be excavated. His music touches on low slung hip hop, long ambient passages, and sharp percussive rushes to create something both unsettling and seductive. In listening to it, one may feel unsure whether to bob their head or to place said head on a shelf for a more reflexive assessment.

_RHL is Rahul Giri, an abstract electronica/post-dubstep producer and DJ from Bangalore. One half of the downtempo/electronica act Sulk Station, Rahul has been an active instigator of the Bangalore alternative/electronica scene. His music will throw up new alternatives to the status quo, and give you a night of movement never seen before in Bristol.

This event continues Asian Arts Agency’s project Aadhunik’s legacy, exploring the new contemporary music scenes of India. Come along and have your mind changed, your boundaries shifted, and new landscapes open to you. Aadhunik is an ongoing series of bold new nights from Asian Arts Agency that will set itself at the forefront of British Asian sound.
