Two adulterous lovers' illicit affair unleashes a disastrous chain of events in this sexy and startling, impressive and impressionistic romantic thriller.

Mathieu Amalric (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) directs and stars as Julien, a middle-aged salesman embroiled in a steamy love affair with a femme fatale (Stéphanie Cléau, who would do David Lynch proud). Their tryst leads to Julien being arrested and interrogated by the police, questioned for motives and alibis. But what has he been accused of? Almaric skips between past and present, courthouse and bedroom, fear and desire, as we are gradually given clues about what happened between the lovers.

Adapted from the masterful 1960s crime thriller by Georges Simenon, The Blue Room is a dazzling deconstruction of the mystery genre - reminiscent of Gone Girl - that turns conventions on its head. Devilishly clever and lushly sharp, enjoy the thrilling ride.
