Junction 3 Drop-In Family Arts Workshop (Set Design)
Please note: This event took place in Oct 2016
Join us for a free creative afternoon in Junction 3 Library in Easton, exploring the theme of people and places with a range of arts activities perfect for kids aged 5 - 12 years old, facilitated by Watershed, Architecture Centre and Scrapstore.
Our activity involves getting hands on with some set design, making a giant skyline mash up of the iconic architectural vistas of Bristol and New York. Why New York? We’ve got two family films set in NYC screening in October - the awesome new animation Phantom Boy (Sat 22 - Sat 29 Oct) with gorgeous hand drawn illustration; and The Wiz (Sun 23 Oct 11:30), a 1978 reimagining of children’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz featuring an entirely African-American cast including Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
The decorations we make at Junction 3 will form part of a free, all singing all dancing, disco get together for Bristol kids and their families, inspired by the Motown, Disco and Soul soundtrack from The Wiz (which screens on Sun 23 Oct at 11:30, followed by free disco from 14:00).
This is a free event at Junction 3 Library most suited to children aged 5-12, just drop in anytime between 12:00 - 15:00.Please note all children under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
This event is part of the Architecture Centre’s 20th Anniversary Our Place programme and the 2016 Bristol Family Arts Festival.
