It's 2001 and a shaky, temporary ceasefire brings a much-needed break to a small village in Northern Nepal, but best friends Prakash and Kiran have bigger concerns: their prize hen has gone missing.

Despite coming from vastly different backgrounds, the two boys are inseparable. Their hen (which they need in order to sell its eggs so Prakash can go to school and break the cycle of poverty to which his family has been condemned) was given away to a neighbour in the next village, so they set out on an adventure to liberate the prized fowl. However, in their single-minded obsession, the the youngsters are oblivious to the civil war brewing in their region and soon find themselves in some very sticky situations...

A deeply touching drama full of heartrending performances and gorgeous cinematic imagery (it absolutely demands to be seen on the big screen), this is an eye-opening account of childhood and friendship in a devastated land.
