Herman Kolgen: Inject

Inject is an award-winning audio/visual installation by artist Herman Kolgen, which was performed at Hengrove Park Leisure Centre's Olympic-size swimming pool in Bristol. Projected onto a giant screen alongside a pool full of swimmers (who comprise Kolgen’s audience), Inject depicted a human body immersed in a large cistern of water.

Kolgen’s hypnotic, contorted visual imagery of the human body as it warps and mutates combines with atmospheric sounds to create an unforgettable cinematic experience. Combining live mixed sound and video, the installation explores a loss of touch with reality, and the strange disconnect between the physical and emotional states of being.

In this artist talk, Herman Kolgen discusses Inject and shares insights about his work and career.

Herman Kolgen is a multi-disciplinary artist who lives and works in Montreal and has made multimedia creations for over twenty years. On 25 July 2012 his award-winning installation, Inject, was performed free to the public in Hengrove Park Leisure Centre’s Olympic-sized swimming pool in Bristol.
