Liverpool based Laurence Clark is a multi award-winning comedian with a unique knack of changing how we view disabled people.
They said he was an inspiration when he started to do stand-up, when he got married and when he became a father, but Laurence Clark has never considered himself any more inspirational than the next man or woman. Because from where’s he’s sat “inspirational” is just a roundabout way of saying he’d never amount to much, but somehow got lucky. So in his new show, Inspired, Clark re-examines his relatively normal life, determined to prove that not every disabled person has to be inspiring. If you’re sceptical when told to climb every mountain, reach for the skies and [insert empty platitude of your choice] then this is the show for you.
Clark is the only stand-up comedian commissioned by Unlimited as part of the London 2012 festival. You can catch his show at The Edinburgh Fringe, DaDaFest in Liverpool and the Bloomsbury Theatre, London this summer.
