Step Online

An online gallery featuring five UK based Asian artists using the web to exhibit their work for the first time.

Step Online was an online gallery designed to showcase UK based Asian art/artists new to exhibiting on the web. In April 2007 visual artists across the UK using digital media were invited to submit their work.

The opportunity was open to emerging and established visual artists working in a variety of media who were new to or beginning to explore exhibition online and aimed to:

  • Promote UK-based Asian arts/artists

  • Reach new audiences

  • Explore potential of online in creative practice

  • Facilitate an online community and potential networks for creative collaboration

The project was initiated by Bristol-based Asian Arts Agency in partnership with Watershed Media Centre, to mark 2007 as the 60th anniversary of India’s Independence.
