Deaf Conversations About Cinema: Maggie's Plan
Please note: This event took place in July 2016
That fate keeps throwing Maggie (Greta Gerwig) curveballs matters not for a woman determined to control her own destiny in Rebecca Miller's (The Private Lives of Pippa Lee) smart, goofy and offbeat delight of a film. A real joy from start to finish, Maggie's Plan is a satirical take on the follies of New York intelligentsia that both recalls and refreshes anything we've seen from Woody Allen.
The Mon 11 July 18:00 screening of the film will include Descriptive Subtitles (a service for our Deaf and hard of hearing customers that displays additional auditory information on the screen). This screening will also feature an introduction by Tiffany Holmes, Co-ordinator of Film Hub South West and West Midlands. After the screening you can join us for a post-show discussion with audience members: this will also feature simultaneous BSL (British Sign Language) interpretation.
From 19:50, please join us for Deaf Conversations About Cinema, an informal discussion about the themes of the film in the Café/Bar (Deaf and hearing audience members are both most welcome). You’ll receive 10% off drinks with your cinema ticket – so grab a glass and let us know your thoughts about Maggie's Plan.
