South Africa's first dance movie has arrived, and it's the perfect opening film for this year's festival! It tells the story of Muzi, the son of an amazing pantsula dancer who is trying to discover the truth about his father's life and death whilst coming to terms with his own identity. Balancing family, friendship, his own ambitions and a new love, Muzi embarks on a brave journey to becoming a man. But in his path to self-recognition and acceptance, he finds himself embroiled in a bitter rivalry that will test him to his core. Can he embrace his destiny and become the man he is meant to be? An exciting, energetic tour de force of a film that celebrates the power of 'sbujwa' and 'pantsula' street dance - we guarantee you will want to get up and move!

'It may not look like it, but this is a political film. Because it's the first film which lets us talk in a language that is our language. The language of our dance'. Scotness Smith

Ticket prices: £5.50 full / £4.00 concessions.

Part of South Africa at 20: The Freedom Tour, a celebration of South African cinema taking place across the UK from Oct 2013 to Feb 2015, reflecting on 20 years of democracy through film.

Presented in partnership with Afrika Eye Festival.
