Second Coming

This feature debut from award-winning British playwright Debbie Tucker Green (Channel 4's BAFTA-winning Random) marks a fresh new voice in British cinema. Jackie (Nadine Marshall) works in a London benefits office and lives with her rail engineer husband Mark (Idris Elba) and sensitive, nature-loving son JJ (Kai Francis Lewis). Theirs is a loving, tight knit family - until Jackie discovers she is pregnant.
The problem? She hasn't slept with Mark in months - but she hasn't slept with anyone else either. In fact, doctors assumed she would never conceive again after the birth of JJ. Is she losing her mind? Is it a medical miracle? Or are divine forces at play? This immaculate conception shakes her friends and family but all the while Jackie is resolute, unreadable, self-possessed - all while being plagued by nosebleeds and hallucinatory visions.
A provocative mix of social realist drama, psychological thriller and (perhaps) Biblical allegory, this is stirring stuff, supported by an excellent cast. Tucker Green has created a conversation starter you won't soon forget.
