FILM SC♀RES – Celebrating Female Composers

Season

Please note : this season finished in April 2017

Part of Filmic 17

Mica Levi’s score for Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin stands out as one of the most unsettling and distinctive pieces of film composition. As part of Filmic 17 we’re delighted that she will be performing the score live at Colston Hall on Fri 14 Apr.

To accompany this, throughout April we’ll be presenting a season of films scored by female composers including Levi’s new film Jackie (Sun 9 April); two films scored by Australian musician Lisa Gerrard who’s beguiling music on New Zealand hit Whale Rider (Sun 16 April) and Ridley Scott’s Roman epic Gladiator (Sun 30 April) are some of the most moving in recent cinema history; Wendy Carlos’ otherworldly and menacing electronic score that sets the tone perfectly for the horrors that inhabit Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece The Shining (Sun 23 April); and esteemed British composer Debbie Wiseman’s breakthrough and characteristically upwardly yearning score for romantic drama Tom and Viv (Sun 2 April).

Look out for Filmic 17 events at St George's Bristol and Colston Hall:
