We used the research we gained from testing square games to hone the mechanics and choose 3 specific mechanics to focus on developing further. Then we untied our Art Director, Chris, from his stake in the garden and brought him inside to further develop the game mechanics, and the visual style, of the testing apps.
We've taken these on the road, showing them to people as far afield as London! They've been accepted warmly, and the research we conducted seems to work as people can pick them up and play them with minimal instruction. Within minutes they've forgotten their inhibitions and they're hooting and hollering with the best of them. Nothing makes us smile more than silly fun, but where next?
These games, Shoot Dem Dux, Robolunch and Avoidey Spikeman showcase what our library can accomplish at this stage. They are not, however, the be all and end all of sound based gaming and Operation: Sonic Boom. Sonic Boom continues to grow. We look to the future with sparkling eyes. We aim to continue developing the library, funded through a mixed bag of revenue streams.
One thing can be said for certain, voice controlled games will be coming to a mobile device near you. We've set up a website and mailing list for future news of Operation: Sonic Boom. Sign up, stay tuned and keep shouting!
