The Way to Documentary 2012

You’ve made a short film, you’ve screened it a few times and it’s been entered into festivals and won awards – so what’s next? Is a career in documentary filmmaking for you? What do documentarians do all day? What does the career path look like? Where do you go from here?

In this video, a panel of industry professionals with different career paths (television commissioner, indie producer, shooting director), experiences and perspectives share their views, and answer audience questions.

The Panel:
Finlay Pretsell is a documentary filmmaker and producer who works for the Scottish Documentary Institute.
Conor McCormack is a documentary filmmaker, who is best known for his short documentary, Christmas With Dad.
Harry Marshall is Creative Director of Icon Films, a Bristol-based production company who have produced a number of award-winning documentaries.
Aysha Rafaele is Head of Documentaries at the BBC, formerly documentaries commissioner at Channel 4.
Chaired by Clare Paterson,
Commissioning Executive Producer for BBC Documentaries.
