Steve Symons is a Bristol based artist, creative technologist, and resident at Pervasive Media Studio. He is known as an early pioneer of sonic augmented reality and as a member of the three person sound art and sculpture collective, Owl Project (http://owlproject.com).

Steve is currently studying for a PhD in Music Technology at the Emutelab Lab, University of Sussex, where his research is kindly funded by the Leverhulme Trust though the be.AI (biometric embodied AI) Centre. He has also run a small creative technology consultancy (muio.org ltd) that supports artists by developing technology that enhances their work.

Steve is currently researching multi-player digital musical instruments that facilitate close collaboration; calling these Entangled Instruments.  He is investigating the relationships between shared interface design, sound synthesis and any mutual player behaviour that emerges.   His talk will present and contrast three Entangled Instruments and there will be an opportunity to play these instruments after the talk.
