Projects 2010 > The Unicorn > Journal
Another extremely useful day at Theatre Sandbox.
I’m on the train on the way up to Edinburgh so I’ll be brief. BTW – if any readers are coming up do come and see Caroline Horton’s You’re Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy that I’m producing which is at The Pleasance from the 4th – 30th and of course Melanie’s show Every Minute Always, part of Forest Fringe’s programme but in a nearby cinema.
Anyway. Good to see everyone.
I had 4 particularly useful conversations today, Tom thank you for making the introductions…
In no particular order – and with apologies for not knowing everyone’s names.
AnteVJ: An ished based media company had some great pointers for projection. A machine has been invented called a fogscreen. Unfortunately there are very few of them in the country, and they are likely to be prohibitively expensive. However it does demonstrate that it is possible to project on to particles in space. I think that the next stage here is to spend some time in the studio projecting onto smoke, haze and a garden sprinkler. AnteVJ guy also had some fantastic gauze that he has been using for projections. I think this will be very useful.
Mercurial Wrestler: Spoke to Becca and Jay about a variety of options for Pepper’s Ghost effects. The consensus here is that smaller is easier!
Dan: Talked through the spec for software and hardware jobs we identified with Tom. We are going to try to have these jobs done by the 23rd of August so that we can play with and test them during that week at the Lyric.
James: Has a colleague who has tried various ways of projecting onto smoke – we’re hoping he might have some pointers about the best mediums for projection onto an intangible surface. Apparently Frankincense is quite good!
Other titbits: I wish I had seen the projections onto water at Latitude, they sounded incredible and look pretty good on YouTube.
