16-19 Film Club

16 - 19 Film Club Hosts Jojo and Amy

16-19 Film Club at Watershed is a space to share ideas, meet like-minded people your age, and most importantly – watch some really amazing films with free food! Different opinions are encouraged and a perfect opportunity to learn, laugh and share through the power of cinema.

Hosted by Jojo Myers-Insole and Amy Smith, facilitated by Nathan Hardie, sessions usually take place on the third Tuesday/Wednesday of the month, directly following the film in the Pervasive Media Studio at Watershed and last an hour.

You can stay up to date with screenings by subscribing to the BFI Film Academy SW Newsletter and following @Makeshift_ws on Instagram, as well as Watershed’s Letterboxd HQ, where we collate our thoughts on the films.

Here’s a little bio on who will be welcoming you into the session.

Jojo:

“Growing up in Bristol I feel very proud to be part of a community in the heart of the city that gives young people the chance to talk about film. Bristol is very lucky to have Watershed and I feel privileged to have been a part of it for the last 4 years. More films for more people!

I studied film at Brighton university and am now working full time as a production manager for Powerhouse Films.

I watch nearly everything, the weirder the better but my favourite film has to be High and Low by Akira Kurosawa.”

Amy:

“I’m a fellow Bristolian, growing up watching all kinds of films, from classics like Gone With The Wind to cult favourites with a modern twist like Queen & Slim – such a deep, dramatic piece with absolutely insane acting.

I am an organiser in the filmmaking creative world, working across production, PA and assistant producing, and creating my own films.

I’m so happy to be a part of the film club to really give a safe space to the younger generation, providing a great time sharing opinions with like-minded people, and exploring the world of film.”
