A rare opportunity to see one of Buster Keaton’s most surprising and charming sound features, a 1934 French production co-starring the lovely Paulette Dubost.

Filmed on location in Paris, Le Roi des Champs-Élysées (1934) finds Keaton in dual roles in a comic tale of mistaken identity, criminal mix-ups and backstage mayhem.

Though made far from Hollywood, it’s more Keaton-esque than his MGM sound films and features his first deliberate smile that's been on screen since The Saphead in 1920.

Introduced by Polly Rose, who will explore Keaton’s remarkable European period and the film’s unique blend of silent-style visual comedy and early sound innovation.
