In this Lunchtime Talk, Play Disrupt will be sharing young people’s creative outputs from the Public Map project, and the journey of co-designing new ways of making maps. Public Map is a University of Cambridge-led research project and online mapping platform designed to increase civic participation in planning, particularly in regards to young people. As part of Public Map, Play Disrupt have worked with over 400 young people across Anglesey, co-designing a process to create animated symbols for children to illustrate how they feel about where they live. 

About Play Disrupt

Play Disrupt is a public engagement studio, using playful methods to engage people in decisions about where they live. Malcolm Hamilton, creative director of Play Disrupt, is interested in using play centred methodologies as catalysts for increasing participation in civic decision making. Nia Evans is a creative engagement producer at Play Disrupt, and an artist working in movement and film. They are also co-researchers on the Public Map, a University of Cambridge led research project and online mapping platform designed to increase civic participation in planning, particularly in regards to young people.
