Our December session of Gadget Club was held in the Arnolfini light studio, which they kindly let us use as pmstudio was full of plone developers that weekend. So we got together and played with magnets, batteries and bits of wire, to make homopolar motors, basically making things spin. We also discovered that not only do they spin, they get quite hot too. Tarim came to the rescue and made stands to put everyone's gadgets onto. see the pictures.

We had a bit of a panic before the session when the packet of 60 very strong magnets got lost somewhere in the post room, so we went in search of them, looking under metal furniture to see if they had attached themselves somewhere out of sight. Luckily they turned up, and as far as we know everyone's computers haven't beeen affected by roaming magnets - you have to keep them at least 30cm away from credit cards too. So the kids who took their gadgets home are under strict instructions not to leave their magnets lying around............
