I've been silent for a while now, which I do apologise for.

It's been a bit mind blowing delving out of my comfort zone into all the coding and new technical languages that come with that. I'm pretty savvy on a lot of things, but that many new levels of engagement with our world was very tiring. Though I suddenly realised that we were quite literally trying to create a new dance for the digital age- making binary language in all its guises talk to the 4 dimensions of movement.

Add to which the number of fascinating reactions we've been having the project- how inclusive the new game might be, how exciting to make something so portable.... me getting over excited about inventing a new musical instrument and the potential to completely revolutionise our dance practice, so all our work can be performed anywhere.

There have been moments when I've been really worried- that logic, ideas and advice weren't going to get us anywhere. Then last week happened.

Strike One: We met with a contact of mine- Matthew Bickerton- and incredibly inspirational man. And it turns out that he loves making music, and loves building prototypes and is really happy coding. Add to that an incredible ability to break things down into manageable pieces.

Strike Two: Liam helped us make the first of the gestural patches.

Strike Three: Whilst I was stuck in London Tim and Robin played- and music (and silence) were made.

Strike Four: Bob, and his cousin Marley entered the rehearsal room. With no idea of the rules of engagement both myself and four of my dancers had the joy of 'discovering' what a 'plain ole' Jamaican Ginger Beer can could do.

It was such an incredibly exciting afternoon- our first prototype in the dancers hands. The curiosity and creativity that ensued.

So exciting. Now we're prepping for the dancers arrival by train, and a mammoth day of filming tomorrow.
