We're pleased to announce that Geraint Ffrancon recently joined the Studio under our New Talent scheme, he is now a resident hot-desker working on Channel Weather Symmetry, a project commissioned by Local Journeys and the National Trust. As a student on the Media Practice MA at UWE, he's no stranger to the Studio and its community.

Grant-funded by the PRS Foundation and others through the Beyond Borders scheme, Geraint's project uses two National Trust locations either side of the Bristol Channel – Rhosili (Wales) and Brean Down (England). Listeners with GPS-enabled smartphones will be able to hear the compositions whilst wandering the headlands. The project will be launched at free public events taking place at both sites in Spring 2012.

Geraint has an extensive background in music and composition. He is currently interested in the interaction between slow movement/travel, creativity and technology; and also in exploring how geographic data/GPS, new web technologies and images can be used alongside music and sound to create immersive location-based experiences for audiences.
