I Tweet Dead People is a twitter trail through York Museum, where visitors follow clues around the museum and tweet answers to unlock the next clue. It is the outcome of a collaboration between Imagemakers, Exeter University & York Museum as part of the React Heritage Sandbox.

The visitors follow a trail around the museum from point to point. At each point they find an answer which they tweet. When they tweet a video of the Ivory Bangle Lady instantly appears on a wall or display nearby. After giving some more information about herself, she tells the visitor where to go next and where to find the next answer.

Qlab Twitter

The video is being played through a projector from a Mac running QLab. A custom piece of software acts as a bridge between QLab and twitter. We connect to the twitter streaming API which notifies us within milliseconds of a specified keyword being mentioned. The end effect is quite fast, as you can see from this early demo of the system.
