I'm away from Bristol at the moment doing a residency at ISIS arts in Newcastle, where I've come across some great locative sound works that I wanted to write about here.

The first is by fellow ISIS resident, sound artist Kaffe Matthews, and is called Marvelo. Its an audio work experienced on bicycles. As the cyclist travels through Folkestone they ride into and out of different audio tracks. The sound is heard through speakers mounted on the bicycle, so the experience is also shared with passersby. The sound was made with school children from the local area who learned how to record and edit for this project. There's a great video about the project here.

The second is by Atau Tanaka, and is called net_dérive. He uses GPS data to upload images and sound from walkers environments to an installation. There are three walkers at any one time, and they  hear ambient sound related to each walk and a beeping that is related to their proximity to each other and the base location.
