Cuisine+Colour invite their diners to eat delicious food creatively, through the medium of colour. They have numerous events this year and the first is programmed as part of The BBC Bristol Food Connections Festival on 1 May. Studio resident, Sabrina Shirazi is the Creative Producer of Cuisine+Colour and an artist who creates visual art and textiles inspired by colour, unconventional behaviour and play. Sabrina will be talking about the concept and developmental journey of Cuisine+Colour, against a backdrop of their capturing artwork.

Cuisine+Colour is a dynamic collaboration between pop-up artisans Da Boes and visual artists Motley Collective. Da Boes (“good food” in Cornish) are interested in reworking traditional ideas of fine dining and pairing ingredients differently. Sabrina is the co-founder of Motley, and she creates imagery that explores the impact of colour when applied to the human body. Motley Collective began working with Da Boes in response to their mutual belief in the importance of ceremony and their interest in challenging dining etiquette through the medium of colour.

Cuisine+Colour has grown rapidly in popularity after two events, both of which have been fully booked and recognised for their originality, atmosphere and superb food. They are passionate about designing dishes from high quality produce that will be wholesomely devoured to produce spillages and splatters of colour, from natural and healthy ingredients. The tremendous feedback from the last two events have put the wind in their sails for 2015 to tour Cuisine+Colour. Their long-term ambition to tour Cuisine+Colour internationally will produce a series of tablecloths that will present the range of ingredients indigenous to other countries, through the colours they bare.

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.

Do you want to find out what is going on at the Pervasive Media Studio? Are you interested in meeting our residents, talking about a specific project or curious about pervasive media? Why not pack a sandwich and join us for one of our Lunchtime Talks and Open Studio Friday.

Lunchtime Talks are informal presentations by Studio residents and associates. They normally take place at 1pm on Friday, are free and open to everybody who’s interested in what we do.

After the Talk, we also invite you to stay with us for the afternoon to continue the conversation or work on your own projects. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile). Our open afternoons close at 5pm.

Let us know if you’d like a tour of the space and we'll be happy to show you around before the talk (around 12.30). Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
